The Carnivals-Monday-Friends

The Carnivals-Monday-Friends have emerged from the tradition of "sausage gathering" on carnivals monday. In the earlier years, unfortunately,
the time can not be traced back (in other villages of the Eichsfeldes partly also tradition), young fellows with the accordion ("Schifferklavier")
or other music instruments at the young girls at home, played there to the dance and then asked to a sausage. These sausages were then
consumed in the restaurant and consumed with plenty of beer and brandy. In Desingerode mostly cotechino sausages (Schwartenwürste)
were collected.

It must have been in the 60′s and 70′s when the gathering came to an end. From now on one met directly in the restaurant and brought the sausages
(eggs, cucumbers, etc.) themselves. Perhaps it was because no one was available with an accordion ("Schifferklavier").

It was in 1978, when Heinrich Schulze Niehoff, a friend of Carnivals Monday, came up with the idea of donating a suckling pig. Since then, every
Carnivals Monday will be consumed a suckling pig. The donor is determined one year before at the Carnivals-Monday-Meeting and receives a
so-called "pig medal" ("Schweineorden") after the foundation. So far there has been no lack of founders, rather it is the opposite.
